did you see this?
I watched it yesterday on Good Morning America yesterday morning. When I googled it to find the link I was mortified at all of the "bullying" links that popped up. Honestly, I don't know why I was mortified by the number.....I am, and have been dealing with my own school and bullying issues.
Tell me what you think....

Do you really need me to tell you what I think about bullying?
I'm all for a mandatory class...in every year of school....that focuses on the damage that is done to those that we spend our time with....and hightlight the value of each and every being.
Bullying starts with the need to bolster ones self worth ....once everyone knows how valuable they really are....they will walk directly away from those people. The bullies are the ones who need the most love....they are just showing their pain and feelings of worthlessness.
Ok....I'll stop....cuz I could write a dissertation on the subject of abuse.

It's AWFUL! My special needs guy has been bullied in school - the new kid that is a little different. Anyway - our elementary school addressed it right away - took care of the bullies AND my son. They are right on top of it here in Seminole Texas. I am so fortunate to be in a great school system - it makes all the difference! Parents do need to be pro-active - always knowing what is happening at the school - it's a job these days - but definitely worth it!
What do I think? I watched the video just for a few seconds, I can't stand it, I Can't stand that young boy screaming for help! In Italy too there have been cases of "bullying" and what is terrible, in my opinion, is the fact that some of these young kids watch at the fact as a show! I cannot imagine someone feeling "great" bullying somebody else. It's pure aberration. And all the videos are on you tube!!!!!! Unbelievable! What can we expect from this society!
Take care, Clara.
I'm mortified. I have a first grader and think about bullying all the time. There are times that I question my own parenting skills, but where were those 7 kids parents? What have they taught their kids about right and wrong and just being flat out MEAN. I don't get it. It's a social issue and everyone needs to address it and take it seriously.
I hate it, and I dont understand it...I wish there was a way to put a stop to it once and for all.....I wouldnt tolerate having a child that is a bully...my son was marginal and I put a stop to it really fast.
I teach in a high school of about 1,000 students and I have not seen very much bullying in the last few years. 9-10 years ago, I did see it some. It could also be due to the fact that I am a well known teacher who has been at the school for a long time and the students know that I am a strong disciplinarian and will not tolerate that kind of behavior in my classroom or in my hallway (teachers are on duty in the halls between classes). I also don't hear my students talking about anyone being bullied.
I have wondered this before - if it may be a more prominent problem in some regions of the country than others.
I am sure someone will insist that I have no idea what I am talking about but as far as what goes on in my school, I think I know as much as anyone.
I think Anonymous makes a strong point. The lack of discipline in our schools is a problem.
The fact that when a child is attacked and fights back they are disciplined also is a problem. That teaches them to be victims. (been there - got punished for fighting back.)
I think bullying should be strongly punished.
I think it's awful for all concerned, the one being bullied is obviously suffering and that should be dealt with immediately, but I also think the bully must be suffering in some way to act like that. I do have to wonder though at the mentality of those who stand and watch, or even worse video it and think it's clever to post it on YouTube or wherever for other people to see.
