Quilter of the day Bonnie in VT

Here's a collection of quilts from Bonnie.  Some of these I finished up for her last year and just now getting around to posting the photo's.   As always, Bonnie does a fabulous job!

Perfect for the maple leaves quilting are the fall colors and leaves on this quilt.
.

I thought the design of this one was pretty darn cool!!  Not something I'd ever try,
 but I do love it!!

I think this one is just a happy, happy quilt!  The colors are warm and inviting and the border fabric just finishes it perfectly!!

We used a modern quilting design, that works wonderfully!

Quick and easy are those 1600 quilts!!  Perfect for gift giving!

I'm sure there's a story behind the backing....

Why we quilt

A while ago I posted about my friend Tita and the wonderful quilt she had just
finished for a young man.

Here's Tita's photo of the quilt giving and short story.......

Josh has been our neighbor for 14 years and a good friend of both my sons. Often, I would find all three guys watching ESPN (naturally) and all of them wrapped in various quilt throws in the living rooms. Not the best quilts, but the quilts that can handle nachos , bagels and a big bowl of chili- usually all in one feeding!

This summer he was sitting there , holding a quilt and just said- Tita, I want a quilt. I started to ask him what kind cotton or flannel and my son told him to go for the flannel .

The pattern is the Turning Twenty quilt that takes 20 fat quarters and I can cut and sew the top in a week. To the young lad's credit, he even marveled at the quilting.
The label for his quilt read:

 For Josh
Who appreciates freshly baked cookies, a good sandwich and now quilts!
It's truly wonderful to have quilts received with such pleasure!

Thanks for the great machine quilting job!
Tita

Something else for us all to think about, did you see that Jenny from Missouri Star Quilts on the NBC Nightly News?  The segment was titled Not Your Grandma's quilt.
At one point in the interview Jenny remarks that she's making quilts to
be used and not put on the shelf!
You go, Jenny!!!

I hope you enjoy making those quilts for the ones you love,

Quilt of the Day - Debi in WV

Sometimes I wish I had taken more photos of the quilts that I get to work with.  This is one of those quilts.  I knew it was an extra special quilt, but in the daily hustle and attempting to get things done I only took two photos of this quilt.  It was a beautiful sampler quilt that had been made by Debi's Mom.

Finished it will be treasured always.  This was one of those quilts that makes me
happy I do what I do.   I was touched when I got this message from Debi when
she had received the quilt back home:

Oh My Miss Joanne,
My quilt arrive and was waiting for me when I got home from work today. I opened the box and OH MY I started to cry. It is awesome. the quilting is excellent and the pattern is perfect. My mom would b so very happy if she were still alive.  Please let me know what the name of this pattern that you quilted on it is. Reason is I have one that I did in this same class that I wanted quilted with the same pattern. One will go to my granddaughter and the other to my grandson.

Cannot say thank you enough for the wonderful job you did
.

Yep, this makes me happy I do what I do and makes me want to slow down just a bit.

Quilt of the day

Our quilt today comes from Rosemary in Ohio.  Many of you already know Rosemary from Kelly at I Have A Notion, they are good buds!

Don't you just love the modern colors and designs of these fabrics?  The light blues and the greens are so well matched!  When you add the white trimmings - it all just POPS!!!!

Pretty cool the way Rosemary broke up the squares by adding the strip into each block.

Don't forget you can click on the photo to enlarge your view.  We used
Anne Bright's Beaded design to finish this great little quilt.

That's it for today, the machine is already working away!!

Quilter of the day!

Shirley sent me these fabulous quilts a while ago.  Aren't the colors on this bright one just wonderful?  Who doesn't like a bright quilt?  All of the colors just sing happiness.

I love the little red spinners in this quilt!  Another wonderfully happy quilt, one that will brighten up the dreary-est of days.

Kathy in Vt Quilt of the day

Blue quilts are always fun to work on for me since blue is my color!  This one is from Kathy and the lines on it are nothing but pure fun!  If you study the whole quilt there's tons of designs just jumping all over the place!

We went with Anne Bright's Geometric design which finished the quilt wonderfully!

Quilter of the Day...

Laurie from Texas is my quilter today!  Last fall she sent me these two adorable quilts.  The first is a soft color with some really cute flowers on it.

Laurie had both batting and Minky fabrics and the quilt was just like butter!  Soooooo  soft and wonderful!

Here's a closeup of the back, love, love, love the Minky!!

This was just adorable!  Laurie wanted me to just do a simple meander around all of the little scenes.  One for every season!

Be sure and click on the photo for a better look!!

Quilt of the day - T-Shirt quilt

Who doesn't have a drawer or closet full of t-shirts??  Ugh, just can't seem to get rid of them.  Perhaps too many memories attached.  This quilt show a lot of time at the hockey rink.  I am positive this quilt will be a treasure!

Just a few of the shirts up close in the photo above, and the hockey backing was a perfect choice.

Jan from CT made many memories all come together perfectly in one lovable, usable treasure!  Thanks Jan, I am positive this quilt will be loved for many years to come.

Quilt of the day.....

You will need to click on the pictures to truly appreciate this quilt!!  It's all about Italy and the fabrics show it.  It's a simple quilt, but when you've got fabrics like this, no need to cut them up!!

I love the story the quilt tells....it's all about the country and the trip, it really does not get any better than that!

And what better design than Van Gogh from my favorite designer, Anne Bright.

LOVE this scene.......

Thanks Annie from NH, for the great quilt!

Manly quilt today for our quilt of the day....

Here's Tita's Turning Twenty made in a flash!  Who doesn't love those kinda quilts?  She got a special request from on of her son's friends who was visiting their house.  He said he just loved her quilts and would Tita make one for him?  Being the sweetheart that Tita is....here's the quilt!

Not a lot of time wrapped up in this one construction wise, but will the young lad know?  Probably not, my guess is he won't even think about it.  But sure will love being wrapped up in this flannel quilt from Tita.  I recently read a blog about making quilts for others and think the info is worth passing along for you to read, here's the link:

Okay, that's it for today....
hope you all are staying warm!

Scrappy White, Quilt of the day...

Another great one from Terry!!  After working with this one I started one of my very own!! Talk about inspiration!  Scrappy with white - what is NOT to love?

We decided on the Anne Bright design called Funkadelic.  This is another of my favorite designs by Anne, I'm setting the machine up to stitch it out on another quilt today.  Yep, lovin' it!

Don't forget you can always click on the photo for an up close view!  I think I'm going to begin running the "Quilter" of the day.  I'm not posting fast enough!  Stay tuned!

Terry's Spools are the Quilt of the Day

A while ago I quilted this quilt it was sent to me from Terry over at Terry's Treasures.  Even though I quilted sometime last year, I still want to share it with you.  I love the way she off-set the spools, I think it adds a lot of character to the quilt.

We went with Anne Bright's design called Target.  It was perfect!!

The colors are warm and inviting, great quilt Terry!!
