Justification......

Through the years my hobbies have seemed to be justified with "oh look, we can use it for ______ (fill in the blank with the school project name needed for justification of the purchase) school project".  Having 4 kids there has always been a ton of school projects.  I LOVE projects!!  I leave the math to Jeff my wonderful engineer of a hubbie, and I get the fun stuff!!  Smart plan don't you think??

Here's the latest school project on my HQ no less...

Last year we made a new flag for the Robotics Team, you can see it here.
This year it's a new banner.  After cutting all of the letter with the Sizzix Big Shot Pro I decided the letters were too small, so that plan had to be scrapped.  It was about 9:30p.m. when we started the new lettering large enough for the banner.  I hadn't had much success with Heat & Bond on the flag so I knew I was going to have to stitch those puppies down.  So on the HandiQuilter the banner went.....

The kid finished up about 10:30 with his part, and I continued working till about 1:00a.m. Sunday morning.  The banner had to be at school on Monday to go in the vehicles headed to Charleston, SC. You can read about the Robotics Competition here.  The kids did great in the local competition and headed out this morning for South Carolina.  Here's the picture I took Monday morning, doesn't he look thrilled??

Got to love being able to justify our hobbies as school project necessities.....

It's a 4 Quilt Morning!

Hope you all had a super weekend.  Hopefully you got to do something quilty since Saturday was National Quilt Day. There were many special offers from tons of different shops, hope you didn't spent too much of the green!!  My "quilting" time was split between making a new banner for my son's robotic team and something super, super, fun for myself.  I'll have to tell you all about it when I've got all of the bugs worked out.

Quilting pictures today are brought to you by Judy in NC.  She recently sent me 4 little quilts that she needed to have quilted and as always they were a pleasure to work with.  Here's a sneak peak at a couple of the quilts....I did a simple (what I call) Waves on this one....

I love the color combo of this little quilt.....

And I just couldn't get the photo's to do this beautiful blue one to
do the quilt justice....

As usual I've posted a few more pictures at the cheap quilting blog:

If you've got a couple of minutes you can visit Judy at her blog: Shadetree Quilting she's posted more pictures and you can see how she does her labels.

Happy St. Patty's Day with a Quilt!

Happy St. Patty's Day to you all!

Here is a cute little wall hanging that I recently had the pleasure to work on for Sue in NH.  How lucky am I that the timing is just perfect to get to share it with you.  Sue is planning on putting shamrocks and gold coins in the corner blocks.  Won't that must finish this off perfectly?  I've posted a couple more pictures at my other blog,

I just loved the softness of this one.  The top is rows of strips and flying geese, with a beautiful flower print for the backing.  The backing is as soft as butter, this is going to be a perfect quilt to cuddle under to chase the chills away. This one is also one of Sue's quilts.

Did you get the chance to catch this mug rug over at Rhonda's?  She is super talented and her blog is filled with tons of great info you can check out her blog at  Ravelly1.  You will never know what you'll find, but guaranteed it is a good read.  Her photography is fabulous, and every now and then you can catch a glimpse of the most adorable little girls you ever did see. Thanks so much for the mug rug Rhonda, I've added it to my wall as another wonderful piece of art.

Well, that's it for tonight, wishing you all a super Happy St. Patty's Day!

I'd like to introduce Kelsey....

Recently I had the pleasure of working with a young lady who completed her first quilt and wanted it machine quilted. She found me googling cheap quilting in New Hampshire or something like that, we exchanged a few emails and made arrangements to meet.  Kelsey lives close by and goes to a school not too far from where I live so it was convenient for her to stop by the house.

What a sweetie she is!  When we met she was very poised, well spoken and mature beyond her years. We chatted about quilting, scrapbooking and just things in general for what seemed like only a few minutes, but I'm sure it was more like a couple of hours. Honestly, I could have kept her she made me realize how much I miss Marcy, my daughter. It was such a pleasure to visit with someone so young and already a great quilter.  Her quilt was perfect!! Here's a few pictures of her quilt...(don't forget you can click on them for a closer look)....

Didn't she do a fabulous job on her quilt?  Did you see those seams?  I've post a couple more at my cheap quilting blog, Insanely Cheap Quilting.  Thank you Kelsey, it was my pleasure to work with you on your very first quilt and it is absolutely perfect!  Keep up the good work you have a lot of really great quilts ahead of you, hope you keep up the quilting hobby.

Glitter & Marcy's Quilt

I love glitter! I love the sparkle, the shine, the flashy, the bright. Sitting here looking out my window this is what I see today....

Driving home from the post office this is what my road looks like....
it is so pretty outside.

We spent the better part of the day yesterday without electricity and no inter-net. I did manage to get some organizing done. It was much needed. Isn't this cool..click on it for a better image..

Check over at the other blog for a couple more pictures of this great quilt.  It's one that Marcy and I put together for some wonderful people back in Indy.  We both worked on it during Marcy's Christmas break from Purdue, I finally got the binding on it, got it washed and mailed out.  Check out my  Cheap Quilting Blog for a couple more pictures.

Well, that's it for today.  I did manage to get some post written and saved
into drafts, so more quilts to come soon!

Holding Back...Terry's Teasures

Yep, I've been holding back on you all.  I've been busy just quilting away and not posting pictures of all of those colorful, wonderful, works of love.  So today a short post with a couple of amazing quits that I had the pleasure to help finish.

Most of you probably know Terry at Terry's Treasures.  She posted pictures of her quilt on February 19th here on her blog.  I love the difference the washing makes!!  It draws it up and really gives the quilt texture. Here's a picture of the first quilt in progress:

And this is another one that she sent:

Of course I've posted a couple more pictures over at my other blog,

Thanks again Terry for trusting me with your wonderful works of love.
Isn't it great to have them finished?

As always, thanks for checking on me,
