Quilts of March

I stayed pretty busy during the month of March!  Quilting seemed to occupy quite a bit of my time, but that's never a bad thing.  All these beautiful quilts and the quilting retreat at Lake Morey Inn, honesty I just can't complain!

Let's take a look at the great quilts that came my way.

A very vibrant quilt from Cathie in CT.  Scrappy and strings on the angle make it a pretty fascinating top!  We opted for a very modern heavy design that finished it off wonderfully.

Deb in VT sent this adorable little puppy quilt.  It was used as part of a fund raiser for a local rescue.  The fabrics are just cuter than cute!  Perfect quilt for a little person and what a great cause!

New quilter Elizabeth brought me this scrappy quilt.  Each fabric was hand selected for the design in the fabric.  Consisting of mostly modern prints with a variety themes the top was a fabulously finished quilt.  This quilt will be loved beyond, the fabrics were amazingly soft and just wonderful.

Another new quilter Jerry, finished off this marvelous quilt with the help of her Mom.  The larger squares are a great way to showcase the focus fabric.  I love working with new quilters, their expressions when picking up the quilt is always fun to see.  I think Jerri was pretty pleased with the work she had put into this one!

Up next is one of my quilts.  Constructed using Moda Mini-Charms and Kona snow this is a quick (if you aren't making a ba-zillion blocks!)  and relatively easy top to make.  The photo does not do this one justice, it's a great quilt!  I've given this quilt to the Grantham Volunteer Department and it will be used as their fund raiser.
Wish them good luck!

Here's a quilt from Joy that she made for her granddaughter.  Love the blue print on this quilt.  Joy does a good job piecing making my job a breeze!

OMG!!   I LOVED this quilt from Karen!!  The mix of 30's prints and the colors are just amazing!!  All of the block designs were perfect and the appliqued dress block was hands down my favorite!  What a wonderful gift for someone special in Karen's life!

Karla does it again!!  Here's another fantastic flannel quilt Karla made for someone special in her life.  The design and colors are perfect for the extra special young man she made this for.  The flannels are so soft and cozy, this quilt will be loved and treasured.

I've put Ketta's name on this quilt but it was actually made by her daughter!  What a great start and I hope I see more quilts from both of these gals.  Ketta, an excellent piecer, would be a great teacher and I know we all want our next generation to appreciate the skills that it take to make a quilt.

Maria kept me busy for a couple of days!  The first quilt photo she actually made two that were exactly the same, but I had a bit of fun with the quilting.  I quilted one with a circular design and the second I went with a more geometric design. It was interesting to see if the quilting made a difference on the finished quilt.  The only place we could really see the difference was in the borders since it was a solid fabric.

Also from Maria, these two cute little quilts.

It's all about football on this one from Mary Beth.  A quilt that is going to be extremely loved and cherished, did I mention it's flannel?  The fabrics and quilt design is a great one for a young man.

Next few quilts are Mary Catherine creations.  Pulling a couple of her regular 1600 designs and throwing in the butterfly and the split four patch.  Using jelly rolls for the butterfly quilt is a great way to make sure all of the fabrics will blend and compliment one another.

Also from Mary Catherine is this cute little cowboy quilt!  Another little quilt that is just going to be loved and cherished.  Mary Catherine used Minky as the backing for this one.

Here's a rescue quilt from Melynn.  While thrift store shopping she unearthed this great quilt, took it apart and sent it my direction.  The piecing on it was perfect making the top a treasure.

I LOVED this quilt from Nadine!  Her piecing on this quilt was perfect with all of those bias ends that could have gone every which way.  I selected a very modern feather quilting design which finished the quilt off perfectly!

Next quilt is from Peg.  The yellow sashing and border works very well with the variety of fabrics she used to make this little quilt.  Keeping with the snuggly feel she wanted hearts in the quilting design and I think it was the perfect choice.

What a wonderful quilt for a young gal who just loves horses!  Penny pulled this great combination of fabrics together using the horse print as her focus fabric.  We went with a modern swirly design to finish it off perfectly.  This quilt will be greatly loved I am sure of that.

WOW!!  What an amazing wall hanging from Rita!  Her color placement and color choices was spot on for this curved flying geese piece.  I was certainly happy to hear that this will be hanging on her walls!

Here is a very impressive quilt using only two different fabrics.  The color combo was spot on making the finished quilt superb!  Great job Sue!

Susanne is either way ahead of the game or a few months behind with the two Christmas/winter wall hangings.  Either way they finished up beautifully!  Using a silver/gray thread and a snowflake and swirly design, just perfect.  Second quilt all pinks and fully of butterflies, this one will be loved!

What a cute quilt this one was!!  Terry used a super cute coffee cup print to make this little quilt.  Finishing it off with a coffee cup design was a great match for the quilting design.  The colors are modern making it a wonderful gift for a modern gal!

That wraps up the March quilts, hope to return very soon with the wonderful works of April!

thanks for checking on me,
hugs,
joanne
