I am still here....

I've got this one on "top" figuring how to best center it on the machine! I love the back of this one, the fabric is so cute! I'm trying my best to center it so it is balanced. This quilt just quietly lays and beggs to be picked up! The colors are so warm! Love it!!

Who's very cool lap quilt is this??? I've got it off and waiting for a picture day.... I haven't really seen one of this up close and personal, but I love it! Lap size and very contempary!

Thanks for checking in, leave me a note or two!

New Post

Okay, now that I have burnt my chicken chunks fiddly farting around with this blog, which won't let me edit it.....just insert pictures when necessary.....Good luck, I didn't want to take any more time to re-do the post.....

WOW!!!! Did you all think I had skipped town? I can't believe it's been 5 whole days since my last post! Okay now to attempt to catch up quickly..........
Have you ever opened your mouth and then later wanted to kick yourself? Happens to me all of the time. Growing up my dad used to tell me "don't let your alligator mouth over ride your hummingbird butt". Meaning, big mouth little butt, but the small butt is not the problem, it's the big mouth and the neon flashing "ask me, I'm stupid" on my forehead. Last spring while browsing the local quilt shop the owner asked "know anyone that would like to host a BOM?". "Hey, how about you?" So then I blush, my head swells, I turn all colors of peacock stupid and tell her that I couldn't possibly do that. I am too inexperienced. HA!!! This savvy shop owner just knows she has me hooked, it's the reeling in and that is going to be waaaayyy simple. After all she and I have worked together on PTO projects and she has previous experience with flashing neon on my forehead. BUT, I am cool.....I humbly decline, HA!!! I spend the next 30 minutes in the shop petting all of that wonderful fabric that she has, and the wheels won't stop spinning and the stupid on my forehead burns my brain until there is not a single cell left, and I run through the shop yelling (on the inside) YES! YES! YES!! Pick me!! I'll do it!!! I'm really stupid!! I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'll still do it!!!
HOOKED!! She is one smart cookie. Before I leave I've got the book "Civil War Love Letters" by Rosemary Youngs and a ba-zillion ideas which I can't process because I have not a single brain cell.

Now to speed this up.......read the book in less than 24 hours, love it, purchased EQ6 (what the devil? You have to have a masters degree to figure it out or a really good friend-Rhonda) and the rest is history..... here's a picture of the CWLL blocks minus the last one. The one I had originally picked was measured out in 16th, so the gals decided to let go of it and wanted me to find another. Explains the big white hole in the middle.

Okay.....so three months into this I ask my gals if they would like to do a Red, White and Blue star quilt also. Why did I buy that stupid magazine? See what happens when I do, another hair brained idea.....and here's my Red, White and Blue blocks for my ladies. Here's our blocks:

Now finally back to business of the Stimulus Plan!! Here's the latest I'm working on!!

If your still with me on this looooooog post, here's one more picture....it's the blocks that I have done to "practice" on the CWLL blocks. See, I have to write the sewing instructions for these and I have to make the extra blocks to make sure my directions are correct. This has resulted in an additional 36 plus blocks. Each pinned stack has 6 blocks in it, many duplicates. Notice the plies of red, white and blues? That's what I've been working on....
Lunch and off to work on the HQ!! We need some new completed quilts on here!!

This beauty comes from sunny California! The colors that Leslie chose for the borders are deep rich burgundy and purples. Geez is it gorgeous!! (click for an up close view) AND we did the quilting in a variegated thread which just sets it all off.

Or better yet, how many of the UFO started with the very best intentions? Fess up ladies!! I know mine are in the double digit numbers. Take a close look at Judy's quilt (click on the quilt) the mix of fabrics are wonderful. Every time I looked I saw another fabric that I hadn't seen before.

Quilt Give a way!!

This is one of my favorite reads! Megan has an unbelievable sense of humor that makes us wonder what she's going to come up with next. Her post are funny from start to finish. Beware, they do on occassion contain a four letter word or two. But her down to earth view of life keeps most of us coming back for more. Hope you enjoy this link, and don't forget to sign up for her give a way.

Beautiful Quilt of Mine.....

Here are pictures of a beautiful quilt that was given to me from a wonderful, talented, loving friend. I will cherish this quilt for the rest of my life. To me the gift of a quilt is one of the greatest expression of love anyone can offer. To be "quiltworthy". I have participated in my fair share of arts and crafts through the years, but know without a doubt the women who quilt are the ones who share their love through their passion. For the rest of my life whenever I look at this quilt, I will be reminded of the special person who cared enough to make it for me.

Thanks for letting me share....

My day off....

...was spent with my dear friend Rhonda, her mom and their friend Penny. We had a great time laughing, talking and just being silly. I didn't get too much accomplished in the sewing department, but some days you just need to be with good friends and yesterday was all about being with great friends. You all should check out Rhonda's blog she has more talent in her little finger than I'll ever have in a bazillion years. Rhonda hope you've got some decent pics up on your blog so everyone can see how talented you really are!! Here's Rhonda' s blog link:

www.patchesandpieces.blogspot.com

So today I am back at the machine. I've got plenty of quilts to work on and only one picture to take. I'm switching back to the regular thread for a while. The variegated thread is beautiful, but is very time consuming. With each spool it requires the tension to be adjusted...so, it's time to do a few easy ones.

Rhonda, thank you for a wonderful day. Thank you for sharing your mom and Noland, (husband) are fantastic people. I wish we didn't live so far from each other!! You are a sweetheart and like a sister to me. Thanks for all of the love and kindness you have given to me! Hugs......

Julie in CA!! Wow!

Wow!! Julie from California!! This is the longest distance a quilt has traveled to see me!! And I am so happy it came! Right now I am in love with the House Quilts. If you don't know about Freddy Moran, take a moment to google her. For her red is neutral. This is so far out of my blue, blue, and more blues box. Barb down at Quilt Quarters even comments when I buy a color that isnt' blue. How sad is that?!?! Okay, here is the fabulous house quilt from Julie.....

I can't believe how much fun this has been for me! Thank you all again for sending me your works of love!
