WOW!!!! Did you all think I had skipped town? I can't believe it's been 5 whole days since my last post! Okay now to attempt to catch up quickly..........
Have you ever opened your mouth and then later wanted to kick yourself? Happens to me all of the time. Growing up my dad used to tell me "don't let your alligator mouth over ride your hummingbird butt". Meaning, big mouth little butt, but the small butt is not the problem, it's the big mouth and the neon flashing "ask me, I'm stupid" on my forehead. Last spring while browsing the local quilt shop the owner asked "know anyone that would like to host a BOM?". "Hey, how about you?" So then I blush, my head swells, I turn all colors of peacock stupid and tell her that I couldn't possibly do that. I am too inexperienced. HA!!! This savvy shop owner just knows she has me hooked, it's the reeling in and that is going to be waaaayyy simple. After all she and I have worked together on PTO projects and she has previous experience with flashing neon on my forehead. BUT, I am cool.....I humbly decline, HA!!! I spend the next 30 minutes in the shop petting all of that wonderful fabric that she has, and the wheels won't stop spinning and the stupid on my forehead burns my brain until there is not a single cell left, and I run through the shop yelling (on the inside) YES! YES! YES!! Pick me!! I'll do it!!! I'm really stupid!! I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'll still do it!!!
HOOKED!! She is one smart cookie. Before I leave I've got the book "Civil War Love Letters" by Rosemary Youngs and a ba-zillion ideas which I can't process because I have not a single brain cell.
Now to speed this up.......read the book in less than 24 hours, love it, purchased EQ6 (what the devil? You have to have a masters degree to figure it out or a really good friend-Rhonda) and the rest is history..... here's a picture of the CWLL blocks minus the last one. The one I had originally picked was measured out in 16th, so the gals decided to let go of it and wanted me to find another. Explains the big white hole in the middle.
Okay.....so three months into this I ask my gals if they would like to do a Red, White and Blue star quilt also. Why did I buy that stupid magazine? See what happens when I do, another hair brained idea.....and here's my Red, White and Blue blocks for my ladies. Here's our blocks:
Now finally back to business of the Stimulus Plan!! Here's the latest I'm working on!!
If your still with me on this looooooog post, here's one more picture....it's the blocks that I have done to "practice" on the CWLL blocks. See, I have to write the sewing instructions for these and I have to make the extra blocks to make sure my directions are correct. This has resulted in an additional 36 plus blocks. Each pinned stack has 6 blocks in it, many duplicates. Notice the plies of red, white and blues? That's what I've been working on....
