Freddie Tornado Quilt

As promised a picture.....not of anything that I have finished (but I DO have pics so stay tuned) but of an extremely creative Freddie quilt. Please take a moment to read Susan's note. If you have any questions please email either me or Susan.

From Susan:
Hi all, I am asking for your help if you can. I am going to give you the whole story so bare with me.Every year I go to a retreat here in IN, we always have a challenge. One year we were given a fat quarter of fabric and a pattern. We had to use that pattern and put some of that FQ in there. We all had the same pattern and FQ. There are 20 of us that go to the retreat and we were all to make 20 to exchange. They were then sent in to a central location and exchanged out and returned to you. The challenge was to make something with it by the next SEP so, I not being a house person has to think and all I could come up with was were I was raised Kansas.Windy, Tornado! So I made a Tornado top for the challenge, they did not have to be completed quilts just the tops, so as with everything of mine the top sit for a couple of years and finally last year I got it out and completed it on May 9 or was it the 8th. Well dates don't matter.

I got it done late that night and went to bed.

The next day I got word that a tornado had hit the town that my parents and a sister live in, in SW Missouri. Luckily all of my family was spared but others in the town and country side were not. Beings as it is not a heavily populated area it was never consider an official disaster area so limited funds were sent there from FEMA. To make matters worse the economy! Many of these people have lost their jobs to their plant moving to Mexico (I used to work there Wow) I know a couple that found out their insurance did not pay for replacement only value. Times have been hard for them. So I have donated my Tornadoquilt to the town to raise money for these victims. I know it won't bring much but I believe every dollar is better than none.

So I am asking if you will help out by buying tickets. The tickets are $1.00 each and 6 for $5.00. If you are able to help out email me privately, this can paid through paypal or mail... I will scan you ticket numbers and email that to you. I am going down the end of JUN and turning all tickets and money in the drawing is the 4th of July.Well if you can help it would be a very BIG Thank you.

hugs, joanne

Goodness! Love the quilt! I have never seen that idea used before. Will have to check and see if my pay pal is up to date. I am originally from NE Arkansas, not that far from that area.
